What is success?

In our world success can often be defined by how much recognition, validation or financial reward we obtain from doing what we do.

However when it comes to the end of our lives, and even in moments throughout, are these the things we’ll feel are really what made us successful?

Perhaps our success lies in being kind to others.

Perhaps it lies in performing unwitnessed acts of service for others and for ourselves.

Perhaps it lies in owning our feelings and not taking out our frustrations, anger or stress on others.

Perhaps it lies in letting someone through in the traffic, instead of being in a state of endless rushing.

Perhaps it lies in being gentle with ourselves, in moments of fear, insecurity or sadness, and giving ourselves permission to feel all of our feelings without judgement as positive or negative.

Perhaps it lies in doing something nice for someone else, just because we want them to feel good.

When we look at our lives and see the miracle moments, those in which we perform acts of kindness not because we think we should, not for any external recognition, praise or validation, but simply to spread love and positivity into the world, perhaps we will see that we have already succeeded.
